Fast casting
I keep hearing people saying how fast casting sucks but i never hear a reason why. I think people are forgetting that a lot of the useful mesmer skills are 2-3 sec cast and with fast casting a 3sec cast becomes less then 2 sec cast and a 2 sec cast becomes something like 1.3secs. Guess i don't see how cutting you cast time down is not helpful.

Fast Casting Water Snare. Uninterruptable snarer with 2 anti-melee skills and the only way to kill it is to PBlock Water Attunement.
Fast Casting can be overpowered.

Campfire.
We are talking about PvE.
The fact that you can activate that certain skill 1 sec faster - means absolutely nothing here. Especially since you can activate your opening skill without the foes even noticing it.
FC could be interesting if it had godly skills.
Currently it has MoR - which is completely and utterly outclassed by AP (for normal play!).
FC is fun in PvE. And that's all there is.
Waste points you have left on it - rather then investing points into it.

Fast Casting has its uses in PvE - ever take high Fast Casting + [Mindbender]? Fun times let me tell you. You'll hit zero energy in like three seconds because you're casting so much. And since PvE is all about fast killing, I don't see how fast casting isn't useful. Other better primaries? Yes. Worst? Not even remotely.

Fast casting is good, but unlike a lot of other primaries you don't usually want to keep this maxed or close to max. FC at 7 or 8 points is great, FC at 12 is a waste.

The beef is more PvE, and compared to other class primaries. FC above 7-8 gives no real benefit compared to putting those points in other attributes. Try....TRY to argue that FC compares to Expertise, Soul Reaping, Energy Storage, or Critical Strikes. It doesn't. Yes, with good energy management a mesmer can be wicked, and PvP they are the biggest PitA around. In PvE, however, with AI that have redonkerz energy pools, some of the best traits of the mesmer become borderline useless, they are beaten on enchants by Necros, and are killed by rangers in the interrupt field.
It's not that FC is bad. It's bad compared to other primaries, and gives little bennies in PvE.

Mesmers have a full attribute type that deals with energy management so they don't need things like energy storage, soul reaping and expertise.

i.. sorta agree?
rangers=expertise which='s nearly no energy spent for anything?
necros+sr+ohidontknow FF, AGaze, Cult, SoLS, Reapers Mark, & all sacs costing practically 0e?
kinda bad examples of not having energy management lol.

At Clarissa's post:
Expertise is the third strongest energy management source in the game. Not only that but it's passive, aswell as Soul Reaping which comes first and Ether Renewal in second. The last two can be debated though, so let's keep out of that. I'm not sure where CritStrikes comes up.
Extra energy is not needed, but it's effective bringing extra energy when it's not affecting anything. The only reason Rangers take the cake for interrupting is because you can run most interrupts effectively on a non-Mesmer bar, and Rangers have low recharges in the first place. (Although I love PBlock in PvE)
Oh, and CAST MOAR KILL MOAR!!!!!!!!!!
PS: The energy management isn't usually on Mesmer bars from what I see.

Wait, so you are seriously suggesting that FC is good in PvE?
(Because this is Campfire - and we ARE talking about PvE!)
So that Fc is worth investing in rather then just putting in the extra points you have left? And that it isn't something that is just nice - but is actually rather useful?
Why and where?

I never said that it's something you invest your entire life's worth into for pve, but what i am saying is that the bum rap mezzies get for their primary in pve isn't even remotely accurate, and that the op should ignore the peanut gallery. i play primarily warrior, monk, and mesmer, and i have more fun playing mesmers than any other class in both pve and pvp, and have yet to see where casting all of my spells significantly faster has ever had a downside.
is SR better? not imo, because i feel like a handicapped retard with it
is EXP better? sure it is, its the best primary in the game
is Energy Storage better? no. simple as that. i could run circles around eles with 25 energy
so, at least imo, i feel that mesmers FC is a well balanced, useful (both pve and pvp) primary to have, especially when you read their description, and see what they're supposed to do.
they do it best.

Casting spells faster doesn't have a downside.
Sadly - it also doesn't have that much of an upside either. Outside of it being fun of course.
